Florida has more registered boats than any state, and a homeowners policy only extends to small watercraft. A dedicated boat or yacht policy covers physical damage to your hull, motor, and trailer, your liability on the water, fuel-spill and wreck-removal costs, and towing — from bass boats to center consoles to cruisers.
Only small, low-horsepower boats, and with very limited liability. Anything larger or faster needs its own policy.
The state doesn't mandate it, but marinas and lenders usually require liability coverage, and it protects you from costly on-water claims.
Comprehensive coverage includes named-storm damage, but many policies require a haul-out plan. We'll explain your policy's storm provisions.
